Baby Bat and Sky Spy

Does anyone remember these? Baby Bat and Sky Spy - the best kites a child could own. I grew up with these kites, flying them over La Verne, adding spool after spool of string until it became so heavy that the string dragged on the ground. Eventually the string would snap and we would chase them for what seemed to be miles. Don modified his kite by adding a battery and a light so he could fly it at night. I don't know what made me remember these kites but, thanks to the internet, I was able to find them online. http://www.skyspykites.com/. They're cheap, look great, and fly like no one's business. There's a near-constant breeze at the park near our home. We watch as the other kids try to keep their kites in flight while Baby Bat and Sky Spy simply shoot straight up into the air. Today Christian and I added two spools of string to Baby Bat and tried to take a video of it, but the kite was so high the camer couldn't detect it. Awesome.

You can improve these kits (OK, like they hardly need it) but add about 6-8 feet of crepe paper as a tail. it will keep the kite flying even straighter - and looks cool.
For fun, you can also add 4-5 feet to each wing tip without dramatically affecting performance. Be sure to have a center tail if you do the wingtips, though.
